Cirque Dreams Holidaze at AT&T Performing Arts Center 2012

December 19, 2012 · 2 comments

Cirque du Soleil brings the fast-paced Cirque Dreams Holidaze to Dallas for the first time. Sparkling costumes, bright stage sets, and ever-present music propel the action ever forward. The show contains all of the acrobatic genius I expect from a Cirque show plus several acts I’ve not seen before. Sit back and hold on. It’s a fun ride.

Holidaze presents a more cheerful side of Cirque du Soleil and features several traditional Christmas songs. It does not exude the slightly creepy, dark moodiness of many other Cirque du Soleil productions I’ve attended in the past. I understand the more family friendly direction for a holiday-themed program especially with two child acrobats in the show, but I found I missed the creeptastic Cirque a bit. (Maybe I’m just yearning to see the Jekyll & Hyde musical again.)

I give the show a thumbs up for kiddos. No obscene language or scenes. The tone of the program is fun and cheerful. I am too observant for my own good, so I may have been the only one to wince at a couple of uncomfortable moments during acrobatic moves.

Get your tickets now… the show will only be in Dallas until Dec. 23, 2012. Cirque Dreams Holidaze is showing at the AT&T Performing Arts Center – Winspear Opera House.

Thank you to AT&T Performing Arts Center and Lamont PR for inviting me to tonight’s show.
