Seriously though:

What if you could proudly say you are known as the boss everyone wants to work for?

What if you were able to turn those stressed out team members into allies who love your management style?

What if your next performance review was your best yet – one that came with a big ol’ bonus?

And what if all that happened without doing anything that felt overwhelming, inauthentic, or just plain stressful?

Here’s what I know: You are a brilliant business professional. You have spent years building expertise in your field. Whether you are a rising star or you are ready to take a risk and leap into management, your communication skills need a boost.

The great news? I know you can do it all in a way that is unique to you, your style, and your skills.

The key to that next big step up is – you guessed it! – learning how to COMMUNICATE.

Go from…

Working tirelessly in this rat race, month after month and STILL not getting the recognition you deserve…
Questioning every. tiny. decision. you’ve made because even though you’ve poured your soul into your skills, management isn’t sure you have what it takes to climb the ladder…
Feeling overwhelmed by the unknown demands of managing, hiring and retaining people…
Yearning to throw yourself at a business task, so you won’t have to deal with messy people drama…
Sinking more and more energy into a job that isn’t getting you to your goal…

To…

Feeling confident to have easy, compassionate, and genuine conversations while still being yourself…
Knowing how to reward your people so they say “no” when competition tries to lure them away…
Using your eye for detail as a huge advantage when communicating with the big bosses…
Creating a team that gets along instead of launching volleys of verbal grenades over cube walls…
Being known as the brilliant leader everyone wants to work for…
Blasting through your goals!

26 HOURS WITH A COACH CHANGES EVERYTHING.

I’m Metsy Corter, and I coach leaders just like you. You work hard. (Probably a little too hard if your friends are right.) You absorb every little piece of knowledge you get your hands on. And then look for ways to improve how things work. You are one of the first to help someone on the team.

You, my friend, are a rare find.

Some days, it feels like you are battling a stereotype that you are “not great with people.” But YOU know that is not true. You care about people. You communicate every day. You have a history of success.

But managing people requires a shift in focus. You have to juggle details and daily tasks while keeping an eye on the big picture. You must lead the strategy for your team. You also need to build expertise in how to *quickly* understand and communicate with people with problems arise. (And they always do.)

As your coach, we meet every other week to build communication and leadership skills, so you can make a difference and meet your personal goals – without hearing crap from other coaches like “just smile more” or “act more confident.”

I have real-world technical experience. And I have managed employees.

I worked in corporate America for 20 years. For a big chunk of that time, I was a computer programmer and lead a specialized “think tank” of web developers who built custom software, tested and implemented global systems, and worked with customers directly. My hand-picked team had a unique mix of technical and communication skills that fueled our success and granted us unparalleled autonomy in a world of micro-managers.

Then I left and spent two years studying human behaviors, driving forces, and emotional intelligence, so I could help you build those pesky soft skills you keep reading about in the Harvard Business Review.  (I have many certifications. And my lowest score was 96.98%.)

My goal is to show you how to use that eye for detail that served you so well in your career to understand HOW to communicate with people and to move them to take action. And how to lead people who are different from you in a way that honors who you are – and who they are.

Then you can take hold of that next step on the ladder with confidence, and let your expertise shine.

I walk you through strategies you can use to:

  • Observe and understand how to connect with someone before you even speak to them
  • Listen in order to learn what drives a person and move them to take the action you need them to take
  • Understand the pace your people naturally work at, so you can improve planning and estimating
  • Reward employees the way they want to be recognized, so they say “no” to talent poachers
  • Have a difficult conversation with an employee without stressing out or creating more drama
  • Learn more about a potential employee in 10 minutes than you can in a year of observation (before you hire ’em)
  • Report information to management in a way that captures their focus and highlights the successes of your team

Examples of additional areas we can focus on:

  • Executive presence (projecting confidence and strategic focus)
  • Presentation skills
  • Making informed hiring decisions

I am a coach, because I was put on this earth to do this work.

I am here. Ready to help.

My name is Metsy Corter. (It autocorrects to Nerdy.)

Programmer for 15+ years and led a team of developers.

Now a leadership coach trained in behavioral styles, driving forces and EQ.

Teach communication and soft skills to humans.

I suggest bi-weekly sessions for the next year.

And usually, we get your boss to pay me.

(Also, I can kill you with my brain.)

How often do we meet?

Bi-weekly is what I suggest. That’s about 26 coaching sessions a year.

Is this coaching virtual or in person?

Our coaching sessions will be held over the phone or via some type of teleconference. If you have a company system you prefer to use for teleconferencing, we can probably go with that. If not, we can use Skype. If you are located in the Dallas, Tx area, in-person sessions are an option.

Even though ongoing sessions are typically virtual, clients often want to meet in person for a one or two full-day session to kick off the coaching relationship. It’s a powerful way to solidify our relationship and focus on your specific goals quickly. I can fly to you and spend a couple days jumpstarting the coaching process. (Charged separately from your yearly coaching.)

Do we stick to a specific, strict outline or are topics flexible?

We begin our coaching with a list of topics to work through to build communication skills – useful for any business professional – but especially crucial for management positions. We will chat about your goals (and your manager’s goals for you) before we put together a high-level plan to follow. I am here to help you, not to force your world into a strict plan of my choosing.

Will your boss know what we talk about?

I do not report the minute details of our conversations to your manager, but if they pay the bill, they have a window into what we are working on together. We will discuss status, goals and strategy for your coaching.

If you foot the bill, I don’t communicate with your management unless you request it.

If you are your own boss, then yes, your boss will know about everything we do. (See what I did there?)

How much does a year of bi-weekly coaching cost?

I am working on some packages to post, but for a very general example, let’s say you want a year of bi-weekly virtual sessions. You pay $2597 quarterly or $9997 a year. (Prices subject to change and all that legal jazz.)

What kinds of professionals have you coached?

Programmers, chemical engineers, marketing/communications, and executive management. I prefer to coach business leaders who lean to the ambivert (bold introvert) side of the scale.

I think you just found your new coach. Reach out now and let’s find out.
